Dr. Mehrdad (Mark) Ehsani, professor and holder of the Robert M. Kennedy '26 Professorship in Electrical Engineering, has been elected a Fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International for his "outstanding accomplishments in the field of hybrid electric vehicles." Full story
Dr. Bjarne Stroustrup, professor and holder of the College of Engineering Chair in Computer Science at Texas A&M University, has been selected to receive the 2005 William Procter Prize for Scientific Achievement from Sigma Xi, the scientific research society. Full story
Dr. Ibrahim Karaman, assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, received the 2005 Robert Lansing Hardy Award from The Minerals Metals & Materials Society (TMS), recognizing "outstanding promise for a successful career in the broad field of metallurgy by a metallurgist under the age of 30." Dr. Ann L. Kenimer, associate professor in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, has been named a runner-up for the 2005 Texas A&M University Presidential Teaching Excellence Awards. Full story
Three engineering faculty were honored with Distinguished Achievement Awards, the highest honor bestowed on the institution's faculty and staff by Texas A&M University's Association of Former Students. For distinguished research, The Association honored Dr. Edward R. Dougherty, electrical engineering, and Dr. Lihong Wang, biomedical engineering; and for distinguished student relations, Dr. Karen Butler-Purry, electrical engineering. Full story
The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents named Dr. Dara Childs a Regents Professor in January 2005. Childs has a joint appointment with Texas A&M and the Texas Engineering Experiment Station. The Regents also named Regents Fellows, including John "Bill" May, Jr., and Arturo Alonzo, both with the Texas Engineering Extension Service; and W.
